چکیده
Arthropod-borne-viruses (arboviruses) pose a global threat due to their ability to b e transmitted by hematophagous insects to vertebrate hosts resulting in a range of serious infectious diseases [1]. Sindbis virus (SINV) is an arbovirus of the genus Alphavirus and the family Togaviridae. This virus is im bibed during bloodfeeding by female mosquitoes in order to enrich their egg production with protein and cholesterol [2]. Bloodmeals are deposited in the mosquito midgut and virions must first cross the gut („gut barrier‟) via infection to enter the hemolymph and contact various target tissues [3,4]. The mosquito midgut is a simple column are pithelium surrounded by a basement membrane, peristaltic muscle bundles, nerve fibers, and tracheoles [5].

Characterization of dengue virus in Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus spp. of mosquitoes: A study in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan
Dengue is a vector-borne disease caused by dengue virus. According to the recent report of CDC that one-third population of the world are at high risk with Dengue fever. The prevalence of the dengue hemorrhagic fever was found more in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. Aedes mosquitoes was reported as the main cause of transmission of dengue virus. So the current study was planned ...
متن کاملLarval Competition Differentially Affects Arbovirus Infection in Aedes Mosquitoes.
Both density-mediated and trait-mediated indirect biotic interactions may be important in structuring communities. Indirect interactions in many study systems remain unexplored; in part, because they are often difficult to detect, and in many instances, have been identified empirically only when unexpected results arise. Indirect effects induced by competition may be particularly important amon...
متن کاملComparison of the transmission potential of two genetically distinct Sindbis viruses after oral infection of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae).
Within mosquitoes, arboviruses encounter barriers to infection and dissemination that are critical determinants of vector competence. The molecular mechanisms responsible for these barriers have yet to be elucidated. The prototype Sindbis (SIN) strain, AR339, and viruses derived from this strain, such as TR339 virus, have limited infection and transmission potential in the medically important a...
متن کاملCharacterization of an endogenous gene expressed in Aedes aegypti using an orally infectious recombinant Sindbis virus
Sindbis virus expression vectors have been used successfully to express and silence genes of interest in vivo in several mosquito species, including Aedes aegypti, Ae. albopictus, Ae. triseriatus,Culex pipiens, Armigeres subalbatus and Anopheles gambiae. Here we describe the expression of an endogenous gene, defensin, in Ae. aegypti using the orally infectious Sindbis virus, MRE/3'2J expression...

Variants of the prototype Alphavirus, Sindbis (SINV), were used in per os infections of adult female mosquitoes to investigate arbovirus interaction with the salivary gland (SG). Infection of Aedine mosquitoes with AR339, a heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG)-dependent variant, resulted in gross pathology in the SG lateral lobes while infection with TR339, a HSPG-independent variant, resulted i...
